If you are running Win3.x you must use the 16-bit version even if you are running Win32s, because the 32-bit version makes use of 32-bit API calls not supported by Win32s. Before running these patches, you MUST have the 1.2 US 16-bit Navigator (included in the 1.2 Personal Edition) OR the 1.2 US 32-bit Navigator. The Personal Edition Shiva dialer and Eudora Light email are not affected by this patch. The patch is an executable file that will modify your existing NETSCAPE.EXE file. 1) You should be prompted to save the patch file to disk. Save this file in the same directory as your NETSCAPE.EXE file. a) The file is n16d122p.exe for 16-bit machines b) The file is n32d122p.exe for 32-bit machines 2) From a DOS prompt, run the patch executable. a) In DOS, go to the directory that the patch file is located (this should copied to in the same directory as your NETSCAPE.EXE file. b) Type n16d122p (for 16-bit) or n32d122p (for 32-bit) and hit return. 3) The patch program will prompt you for the location of your existing NETSCAPE.EXE file, giving you the default location as an example. You MUST enter the ENTIRE path to your NETSCAPE.EXE file. This includes the drive (ex. C:\) and the directory. 4) Successful completion of the patch generates a result table that list the changes and updates your NETSCAPE.EXE file. To verify that the patch executed successfully, run the Navigator and go to About Netscape under the Help menu. Make sure you see Version 1.22 and US security at the bottom of the page. ======================================================================= Patch Installation Troubleshooting ======================================================================= 1) If the path to the NETSCAPE.EXE file that you enter is wrong, the patch will attempt to find the file and will then return an error message. If you receive an error message, make sure you know the exact path to your NETSCAPE.EXE file and run the patch executable again. 2) If you have a version of the Navigator other than 1.2 for US and Canada only, the patch will return an error and exit. For more information regarding the Navigator and the patch, please read the Release Notes under the Help Menu.
